CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS

OVERVIEW
The Student Assistance Professionals Association presents an Annual Student Assistance Program Training in February or March. Typically, 500-800 people are present with workshop attendance varying from 40 to 200 per session. Unless the presenter requests a limit on the number of participants, the capacity of the workshop will be determined by the capacity of the room. We offer many choices per day (including keynote and concurrent workshops).

Participants are primarily teachers and counselors involved with student assistance efforts and are fairly evenly drawn from elementary, middle, and high schools. We also have participants who are administrators, social workers, school nurses, law enforcement officials, psychologists, and mental health providers.

PRESENTER BENEFITS
Primary presenters will receive a free registration to the training. Limited funds for stipends, travel, and lodging are available for a few presenters. Most presenters participate for the exposure. Please be sure to indicate if you require a fee. In some cases, exhibit space may be awarded in lieu of a speaker fee. Basic audio-visual equipment (TV/VCR, overhead projector, flip chart) will be provided without charge. Larger rooms requiring amplification will be equipped with microphones. Each workshop may have up to 10 one-sided pages of handouts duplicated at our expense. Handouts may be provided to participants on a disc.

SELECTION PROCESS
Programs will be selected based upon:

Application does not constitute an actual invitation to appear on the program. Contact will be made with         potential presenters approximately nine months before the training/conference.

WORKSHOP EXPECTATIONS
Participants at our training expect high energy, motivating sessions. Previous evaluations indicate they want to feel "energized" and "up-lifted" when they leave the training. They prefer to receive useful handouts, practical suggestions, ready-to-use activities, or demonstrations of successful programs, rather than simply theory or information. Presenters are expected to involve participants whenever possible.
